The Beauty of an Autumn Pond

Are we really into the month of November already? It seems like August was just yesterday when the waterlilies and lotus were blooming heartily in the water garden. Despite the fading blooms, water gardens still look beautiful during the cooler days of autumn.

This beautiful home is graced with a pond and stream at its entrance.

The orange and yellow koi reflect the colors of the falling leaves.

Shade-loving impatiens will soon be fading.

The stream hugs the front walkway lending a unique landscape element.

A melodious waterfall is nestled to the right of the doorway decked in fall adornment.

The pond will frost over in winter while the koi safely hibernate at the pond's bottom.
They'll return again in the springtime when the days get longer and the ice melts.
For now, it's nice to enjoy the quiet beauty of autumn in the landscape.

Just to clarify...it is OK to let the pond ice over in winter or if there is a cold, cold snap? The fish aren't harmed??

Hello! Thank you for sharing your thoughts about landscapers in your area. I am glad to stop by your site and know more about landscapers. Keep it up! This is a good read. I will be looking forward to visit your page again and for your other posts as well.
Thales, an early Greek philosopher known for his view that "all is water," spent a considerable time thinking about the nature and scope of landscaping. Some of his students believed that in order for human activity to be considered landscaping, it must be directed toward modifying the physical features of the land itself, including the cultivation and/or manipulation of plants or other flora. Thales rejected this notion, arguing that any aspect of the material world affecting our visual perception of the land was a proper subject for landscaping. Both Plato and Aristotle praised Thales' analysis as a model for philosophy. In the early 20th century, British philosopher G.E. Moore cited Thales' reasoning as one of the few historical examples of how philosophical inquiry has led to genuine human understanding and progress.

Harrison and his team converted our backyard from a slushy unusable sloping block into a completely usable and well drained pleasure. A major reconstruction over 2 months that involved excavation, retaining walls, decking, pergola, paving, fencing, turfing and garden preparation.
